[RRPG] What do we do in a moment like this?
Turns out 1970s political economy has a lot to say about our political repertoires and confronting political decline
If you've been wondering what actions you should be taking right now (or, getting upset that some people aren't acting at all, or in the right way, or doing enough), this is for you.
It's not a specific laundry list of suggestions for concrete actions to take that you can follow like a recipe and produce some particular expected result, though. Instead, it's a deep dive into the general sets of actions available to all of us, when they're appropriate to use, and what social and political conditions might arise as a result.
As the preview suggested, we're digging in to Albert O. Hirschman's classic Exit, Voice, and Loyalty. Not because it can or will or should give you all the answers, but because it's easy for the details and nuances and particulars of the current political moment to subsume your vision for broad political action and equilibrium. When you're holding the mirror too close to your face, you catch every detail but you don't see the big shapes.
